Architectural film is made for heavy daily use. Here's what affects how long it lasts and how to get the most from it.
The short answer
The architectural films we fit are rated by their manufacturers for up to 10 years in normal use. How long yours lasts comes down to the prep, the fitting and how the kitchen is used.
What makes a wrap last
Most of the work happens before any film goes on. Doors are cleaned, degreased and repaired, and edges and corners are heat-formed so the film can't spring back.
Rushed prep is the main reason wraps lift early, which is why we never skip it.
What shortens it
Steam and direct heat are the biggest risks. Kettles under wall units, ovens with doors that vent onto cabinets, and hot pans on wrapped worktops all take their toll.
We'll point out any hot spots at the survey and suggest where a heat shield helps.
If a door gets damaged
Because each door is wrapped separately, one damaged door can be rewrapped without touching the rest. Keep a note of your film code so it can be matched.
